I first visited this salon a year ago for a mani and bikini wax before a vacation. The service and quality were good - no complaints, but nothing special.
I recently returned to have my hair and makeup done for my wedding. I told the hair stylist that I wanted my hair to look like a nicer version of my normal long, wavy style. I specifically said I wanted volume at the roots and natural waves or large curls, *not* ringlets. After the run through my hair was flat as a pancake on top with a shelf of spiral curls going every which way starting from the ears down. It was an unsophisticated, amateur look and it was nothing like what I asked for. I ended up cancelling the appointment and I did my own hair for my wedding.
I was not so smart about makeup. During the run-through the makeup artist rushed and seemed very unsure of herself (plus she smelled like an ashtray), but she did a decent enough job. My issue was with the products offered by the salon - the foundation rubbed off very easily, the eyeliner and mascara literally ran when my eyes watered after sneezing (seriously, for wedding makeup...), and the salon offers *no* lipstick or lip liner. They only have a palate of about 12 glosses to choose from, but they have no staying power whatsoever. This is the opposite of what you want for special occasion makeup. On my wedding day I brought my own lipstick, lip liner, eyeliner and mascara.
On my wedding day the makeup application was simply terrible. My foundation was lighter than my skin - which I repeatedly brought up to the makeup artist and she failed to fix. My face glows in my wedding photos and it makes me angry at this salon every time I look at them. The makeup artist had all but forgotten what she had done for me just a week before. This is even more incredible given the fact that she took pictures during our trial session! For example, she asked me if we had used blush during the trial session. I told her yes, so she took out her palate and asked me what color we used. I think it was her responsibility to know that! She also took forever to get my eye makeup right. She drew the "wings" on my eyeliner completely wrong. One was far longer than the other and she spent 20 minutes trying to fix it. She accomplished little more than smudging black liner over the side of my face, which she then covered with more (smudge-prone) foundation.
I ended up fixing my makeup by myself at home. I feel like I trusted this place with my wedding day and they disappointed.
